Orthopaedic medicine deals with mechanical diagnosis and conservative treatment of soft tissue lesions of the locomotor system.
The system of orthopaedic medicine that Dr. J.H. Cyriax M.D., M.R.C.P., described consists of two major elements:
1) Diagnosis: Achieving a precise diagnosis is the first goal.
2) Treatment: Once a diagnosis has been obtained we should look for, if possible, an efficient treatment plan. What could be the best treatment for this patient (taking into account the personality of the patient, type, duration and localization of the lesion)?
Who is ETGOM:
• The European Teaching Group of Orthopaedic Medicine (ETGOM) offers UPDATED orthopaedic medicine Cyriax continuing education with emphasis on clinical reasoning and soft tissue treatment
• ETGOM is a Belgian association, founded in 1989 by Bob De Coninck, PT.
